Glass sliding door glazing.

Trend windows came today to glaze onsite our double glazed glass sliding door sets, frames have been in place for some time, but due to the weight of these size window the panels needed to be installed separately on site.
Great to have the house now relatively draught free from the current chilly wintery breezes.

Laundry door set completed.

Dining/lounge window set completed.

  1. Hello! Your home looks amazing. I particularly like how you mixed three different colours for your bamboo flooring. It looks incredible. Wish I had stumbled onto your blog before we did our floors!

So I was wondering how you are finding the Trend ThermAL windows? We have an old house we are slowly renovating, and are planning to replace old timber single glazed windows with TherMAL. How have you found them generally? Have the mechanisms stayed smooth and trouble-free? And is there anything you would do differently (e.g. different type of window, different glazing etc) if you had your time over again?

We are planning casement for most of our windows because they seal better than sliding, but will have one sliding window for the kitchen that opens out to the back deck so we can have a pseudo-servery, and stacking doors that open out to the front deck.

Thanks and look forward to learning from your extensive experience!

    1. Hi Lisa

Thanks, so much for your nice feedback :) we really love the Bamboo colours too, glad we decided to go mixed.
Really impressed with our ThermAL windows so far.
The mechanisms all work great, really smooth, easy to operate....the doors slide so much smoother and quieter than our previous home (which we also built 8 years previously - so not actually that old) which had single glazing.
Impressive considering all the extra weight you are moving with the double glazing in place.
If we ever built again, only thing we would consider would be upgrading the windows facing direct the sunlight to the Low E glass, Trend offer, for even better thermal efficiency.
We have a couple that get the early morning, or late afternoon sun and do notice on these ones, some glare and some heat transfer.

      Hope this helps :)

  2. Oh that's great to hear. They are expensive so it is comforting to know that other people have not regretted buying Trend! They have been very responsive with our requests for quotes and information, so we were feeling pretty comfortable anyway, but always good to hear positive feedback from an actual customer.

We'll have to check out the low e glass. At this stage we are thinking we won't go for argon gas because it doesn't seem to make a heap of difference to the energy rating, but hadn't considered low e glass.

Thank you for your help and advice!

    1. I wouldn't worry about argon as the Trend windows come with this as standard. the low e is more expensive but double glazing will not stop solar radiation. Low e will.
