The shed arrives

Shed kit has been delivered on site ready to go up, once the weather improves.

Shed will have Colourbond Dune roof, with Paperbark walls and Jasper gutters. This will match in with the house colour scheme.

Looking forward to the assembled and finished product.

Shed slab and house piers

We have a new shed slab poured, set and ready for our shed to be erected.
Looking forward to having secure storage on site.

The house slab site also has been set out, and concrete piers have been poured.

Rain has been falling steadily this week, so further work has been put on hold until weather clears.

Welcome to our blog

Hi all,

Welcome to our blog for our new build in Kareen Estate, it's our first attempt at blogging so please be patient with us.

Owner build number 4 for us has recently started.

Purchased our new 2969m2 block in Kareen Hills Estate, Mansfield, VIC, settlement took place on 1st February 2012.

Moved out of our previous build, now in our temporary rental until this one is complete.

The new home build planned has 35 squares of living, (4 bed plus study) plus 3sq of verandah, 6 sq garage, 6 sq alfresco area - all up 50 squares under roof.  Plus of course the "man shed" (16m X 9m) at the rear of the property.

The home will be clad in polystyrene with rendered finish, with a colourbond roof and on a concrete waffle pod slab.

The site cut started on  3rd February.  Well this proved the first challenge and budget overrun.  On Day1!!  Certainly pays to have a laser level when getting a site estimate.  The cut wasn't so much as a cut, more of a fill.  In a big, big way.  The fall of the land where the house was to be situated fell away in one spot far more than everyone expected, including the experts.  Around 1300 m3 of fill later we had a level, compacted house and shed site.  The small retaining walls we expected are now going to more substantial and more of!!

The site cut begins

Trucks bringing in the fill.

That's the first blog.  Standby for plenty more...
