Time for an update ....garden progressing slowly :)

Trees and shrubs planted along side fence lines now. Dripper lines feeding each plant for effective watering.

New veggie garden up and running too, with bird netting enclosing it.

Plants in retaining wall all growing nicely :)

New sun blinds working a treat on the front East facing/morning sun windows - 41 degree day and house was only at 25 with no Air Con on!!

Some of the plants in now around the clothes line area...protected from the dogs with tree guards until they gain some more height ...more planting to come.

Clothes line area - with retaining wall

Our clothes line area under construction.
We decided to have clothes line set back into our embankment.
A much better spot than our temporary one.
Will be less obtrusive in our yard once plants are in place and our washing will receive full sun for most of the day.

Excavation begins...

Area cut and ready for retaining wall

Posts going in.... plus protective plastic barrier, aggy pipe and gravel for drainage

The wall all finished and clothes line post in place

Plastic sheeting and gravel going down = no weeds and no grass to mow underneath

Almost complete - ready now for some decorative landscaping to begin.

Rear step for our alfresco area.

The new rear step out into alfresco area being constructed.

All finished, ready for the treated pine to be stained.

The step all ready for use - with Merbau stain. Really happy with how it turned out.

New side fencing.

Start of the new side fencing, to keep our doggies in.

Treated pine poles going in.

Treated pine pole framework.

Treated pine decking slats going on.

Gate going in. (sorry no pics of welding up the gate frame)

Finally a merbau stain to complete the look.

The finished fencing.....really happy with the way it looks.

Outdoor works ....the side retaining wall.

Work outside has been on the go these past few months. Plenty of things to build.

The new retaining wall being first on the list.

Beginning first with all the treated pine poles being installed.

Poles in place ready for the railing.

Treated pine railing going on

Aggy drain pipe and gravel, for drainage, plus plastic barrier.

Top soil being placed up onto the wall....with the help of a nice big dump truck and excavator - beats using a wheelbarrow :)

Now some final finishing off .....the boards all in, poles trimmed to correct height and topsoil leveled off in place.

finally the addition of cap rail for the final look.

Now for the fun bit!!

All the mulch being delivered by truck load.

Plants and mulch all in....just need to wait for it all to grow now :)

Finally a build update now we are in...

Finally an update on our owner build...sorry been pretty slack updating...too busy enjoying life here :)

Loving our new home, settled right in now and really enjoying living here.
Happy with all the choices we have made throughout our owner building process, all areas work really well.

(temporary clothes line there - shifting it in future to somewhere less conspicuous.)

The new kitchen with all its appliances is a dream to cook in. Our new cooktop is fantastic...so adjustable from ultra low simmer to super high for wok cooking - really glad we made the extra effort doing major researching here. Also the rangehood choice has been spot on, coping with even the highest demands of smoking wok cooking!
So much functional storage too, glad we incorporated a dedicated appliance cupboard into this kitchen.

The Actron air-conditioning is proving fantastic - working so well this long hot summer up here.
It's been a consistently hot one all this summer in the mid to high 30's for most of it...not getting the lower temp days Melbourne's been occasionally getting...even overnights have been still in the mid 20's. The unit is proving super efficient, love ESP mode where it auto adjusts itself , with fan speed etc to maintain temp selected.
We also love the added bonus of the straight fan mode, (no aircon) which we have since heard many units don't actually have. It's great overnight when its still warm to keep a gentle breeze throughout the home.

Loving having our Theman Solar HWS too (Reece's), nice to know with all this hot weather our hot water is coming to us free from the sun :)

Slowly working on the landscaping now, plenty to do, but no rush now we are in. Lots of plants to chose and plant, irrigation lines to run, retaining wall to build..etc

Putting up the chicken wire around the block to keep our dogs in and others out.

Garden beds slowly going in

Finally a couple of sunset pics
